Rip Rap Rock Seawall
The rip rap rock is a type of hard seawall that protects the coast by spreading, diffusing
and absorbing the wave energy through the different layers of rock within the formation,
rather than a solid hard wall.

Groyne
One of the prominent management strategies in place is the presence of geotextile
sandbags, which act as a groyne. These sandbags are laid down on beach to stop
the natural movement northward of sand, they also stay submerged once covered
by sand.

Sand Fencing
Sand fencing (both parallel and zigzag at toe of dune) is a strategy that is seen through out Adelaide's
metropolitan coastline. The fence is mad of fine hession zig-zag in formation in order to catch the
movement of sand from the two predominate wind directions in the area, south-east and north-east.

Signage
Another management strategy in place along Adelaide's metropolitan coast is the presence
of signage. The main purpose of the signage is providing information on dunes, current management,
and inform about prohibited/dangerous areas of dunes.
